The following examples illustrate the range of options for guided tours and cultural programmes in Berlin and Potsdam that I offer. The design and duration of the programmes are flexible and can be modified according to your preferences, and all will be conducted either by myself or knowledgeable colleagues of mine.

Get to know Berlin - limousine / coach tour

Discover Berlin's major sights on an entertaining tour with a limousine or coach (or even a Trabant car, watch a video here). Short guided walks and photo stops will be included. Berlin offers a large variety of interesting sights - besides the regular three-hour tour, fascinating full day tours and programmes of several days can be arranged.

Only in 1920 Berlin in its present size was created, when old Berlin was joined with the surrounding 7 cities and 59 villages. This tour will present interesting neighbourhoods beyond the historical city centre of Berlin. Duration 3-4 hours.

Berlin lecture - multimedia presentation

This multimedia presentation will provide the audience with a general overview of Berlin's urban development and its role in German and international history. Interactive involvement of participants is possible on request. Suitable for attendees of meetings and conventions, students, etc. Duration: 30 mins to 1.5 hours.

Potsdam - beautiful town of residence of the Prussian Kings - limousine / coach tour

You will explore the historic centre of town and its major sights, see the exteriors of the palaces Sanssouci and Cecilienhof. A guided walk of the main palace gardens of Sanssouci will be included. Duration 5 hours from/to Berlin, 3 hours from/to Potsdam. It is very attractive to also include a guided tour of the interior of one of the palaces (by pre-arrangement only, requires an additional hour). Day excursions can be arranged as well.

Berlin's historic city centre - guided walking tour

This tour covers the famous sights in the city centre such as Gendarmenmarkt, Unter den Linden Boulevard, and the cradle of Berlin: the Nicholas' Quarter. Learn more about the magnificent buildings and the Prussian history of Berlin. Duration 2-3 hours.

Berlin's new centre - guided walking tour

In the centre of Berlin, between the Potsdamer Platz area and the new Central Station, private investors and the German government have spent billions of Euros on re-development and infrastructure. A qualified guide will describe the new architecture in its urban context. The walking tour will also lead to Paris Square and the Reichstag building. Duration 3 hours.

A kaleidoscope of German history - guided tour with historic audio clips
During the period of the German Empire, through the Weimar Republic and National Socialism and as a divided city in the time of the Cold War, Berlin took centre stage in German history. A qualified guide will accompany this special topical tour and review the major turning points. At the actual locations a number of historic audio clips will be played that will take tour participants back in time. Duration 3 hours.

Berlin under National Socialism and during WW2 - thematic limousine / coach tour

You will visit the German Resistance Memorial Center, the Holocaust Memorial, Wilhelmstrasse, the Topography of Terror, and the Soviet War Memorial in Treptower Park. Duration 3.5 hours.
Guided excursions to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial, situated in the town of Oranienburg, 60-90 mins driving distance away, are possible as well. Duration 5 hours minimum, start/finish in Berlin.

The Cold War and the Berlin Wall - thematic limousine / coach tour - Watch video clip here

This programme will review the special role of Berlin during the Cold War period and the history of the Berlin Wall. During the tour, the Berlin Wall Memorial Bernauer Strasse, the Berlin Wall section "East Side Gallery" and the former Checkpoint Charlie will be visited (watch a short video clip of Checkpoint Charlie here). A visit and guided tour of the Allied Museum can be included as well. Duration 3-4 hours.

The Berlin Wall in the city centre - guided walking tour

This walking tour leads along the former inner city border between East- and West-Berlin from Brandenburg Gate to Potsdamer Platz and to the former Allied Checkpoint Charlie. Along the way you will see original remains of the Berlin Wall. Duration 2 hours.

Berlin as German Capital - special limousine / coach tour

The new main parliament and government quarter will be examined in detail, including the exteriors of the Reichstag building and the German Chancellery. Learn more about the historical background of Berlin as the German Capital and current developments. Duration 3 hours.

Learn more about the historical background of Berlin as German Capital and current developments. Other government institutions, the Brandenburg Gate or the new Central Station can be included in the tour as well. Duration 2-3 hours. 

Berlin as a showcase of modern architecture - limousine / coach tour

This special tour gives an overview of major projects and recent urban development in Berlin - many internationally acclaimed architects have contributed spectacular designs. Duration 3.5 hours.

World Cultural Heritage: The Berlin Museum Island

This guided excursion provides detailed information on the Berlin Museum Island, its impressive museum buildings and about the extensive collections. A guided tour of the Pergamon Museum will be included. Duration 2.5 hours. 

Berlin-Mitte around Hackescher Markt - guided walking tour

Around Hackescher Markt, a sense of old Berlin has lingered: many old apartment buildings combined with former courtyard factories have remained, but today there are new cafés, galleries and fashion designer stores to discover, in a neighbourhood bustling with life. Duration 2 hours.
