The Allied Museum
The Allied Museum on Clayallee was inaugurated in 1998 during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Berlin Airlift. In 1948/49, the Western Allies had supplied West Berlin by air in order to defeat a Soviet blockade of all other supply routes The museum documents the special relationship of West Berliners to the Western Allies, the "Schutzmächte" (protecting powers). In the picture you can see an original Handley-Page Hastings from the Berlin Airlift, which is on display in the museum courtyard. Another aircraft that participated in the Berlin Airlift is on display at the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin - German Technology Museum Berlin.
