Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam

The city of Potsdam, once second town of residence of the Prussian Kings, is located southwest of Berlin. The Sanssouci Palace on the vineyard hill is the most famous among the numerous preserved palaces. It was built in 1747 as summer palace for Frederick the Great. The surrounding Sanssouci Palace Gardens contain other interesting historic buildings as well, including the Neues Palais.
